Also I posted the third of the series for Lennare and Carrencia on the TWC vote button.
Someone's gettin' freaky on the couch.

If I ever made a printed graphic novel I'd have those big fold out maps like Nat Geo.

How on earth does Deeeeeeeeeeeez ever think up all this stuff? Does his family ever see him? He can't possibly have a job, unless maybe he's a night watchman and does all this when his boss thinks he's working???

heheh... yeah I have a real job.
This story started in the 70's when National Geographic published a story about The Polynesians and I started thinking about a world that was similar to the South Pacific.

I think I have it figured out. Tell me if I'm on the right track. The continent is in the northern hemisphere but the storm spins backwards like the southern hemisphere. I won't say the rest in comments but I'm pretty sure I got it.

Yes but you cheated because I gave you that hint. lol
But remember, just because Page 149 shows the impact in what looks like the North, you can't be sure of the orientation of the ship, so that could be anywhere on the planet.

Interesting that you chose the name "xebec" for one of your ships. However, the real xebec was much more like your war galley.

The middle one is definitely a xebec. There are all different types of xebecs with different types of hulls and rigs, but it looks exactly like the top picture in that link you posted, with the exception of the oars. Only the most ancient xebecs had oars. They didn't need oars because the lateen rig sails have excellent sailing characteristics and can sail almost straight into the wind.
The bottom ship is a war galley. In fact it is modeled after the French war galley "La Reale".
The top ship I made up as part of the story of course.
