This matchup should be more interesting than if Tal Yana got to fight Unity. Unity would have cut down Tal Yana effortlessly. And it's probably slightly more of a challenge for Unity to fight multiple opponents at once.

But I am surprised that Tal Yana followed Yarvin's orders. She should be peeved at him. But then, maybe she figures the Rokurokubi will slay Yarvin and his men, still giving her a chance to face it?

She knows that Queen Cercia would never appoint someone known to disobey orders to the rank of Regula Sumi. She has no choice but to follow his orders. Also, Tal Yana said on page 227 that she knows Yarvin will fail while she will succeed.

All these people, er creatures, should be taking anger management meetings like Virus did.

"People" is the correct term. That is a broad term that can include not just humans, but also aliens and probably even androids. But for the term to fit it must refer to thinking beings who are capable of participating in a society, with the primary qualification being sapience. "Creatures", on the other hand, implies living things that are mere animals (if that) - neither sentient nor civilized.

To be fair, the Mag Cheng are cannibals and seem rather barbaric even by Mala or Mag Leung standards. But they do actually have something of a society. (Mag Cheng are basically Kurra, aren't they?)

This discussion of what constitutes a person vs. a creature reminds me of a scene in Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy where a genetically-modified talking bovine tries to sell itself to the protagonists for dinner, showing off it's fine muscles and expressing how delicious it would taste...

Yes, Mag Cheng is a feral Kurra. The Cheng "wild state" is a different phenotype as Kurra which is retained by the "tame state". So Kurra have Phenotypic plasticity or the ability to change its phenotype in response to changes in the environment.
Another result of The Acceleration Matrix used by The Ancients.

Don't think anything will survive inside Unity's blade reach & there aren’t enough if the first wave goes down.

Thanks.
I'm dreading this because action scenes are hard to pose, and two at once... bleh!
