Don't worry, he needs her alive. She has the access codes to the only shuttles off the planet. Well, unless he doesn't give a shit about orders.

Nice! It's been a while since we've seen this kind of action.

Though, I worry for our heroes. I'm thinking their weapons are too small a caliber to do him much damage. They probably need something with more bang, like a grenade, to punch through his thick armor. They don't have armor-piercing rounds, do they? If he stands still long enough, though, perhaps one of them can snipe something vulnerable, like his optics?

There's plenty more action to come -- big battle coming.

just for reference, except for specific instances, grenades are generally only good for "soft" targets. Judging from the overlapping plate, and fragments would be too light to penetrate and the blast would just be deflected. Now, a shaped charge warhead, like either an RPG or a "limpet" style Explosively Formed Projectile mine might do the trick, or some heavy, hyper velocity Depleted Uranium/Tungsten rounds [Kind of thing an A10 Warthog shoots at tanks], but it depends on what that armor is made of.

current grenades for various launchers, including the M203/M79 versions include a HEDP model, High Explosive Dual Purpose, which consists of a shaped charge with a frag sleeve to make use of the rest of the explosive energy and would be fairly useful in this scenario if they didn't generally take so long to arm, often 30 metres. Of course the designers of this time and place may well have assumed that anyone firing one would be wearing body armour so the frag wouldn't be a major consideration and given them a much shorter arm time. Or there might be different technology altogether..either way, I'd say the tinkertoy target is about to be on the end of some rude firepower...and so are our friends :)

Just a thought, is that a charged particle beam? Would be a real shame if the containment coils got knocked out of alignment by a hot cybernetic soldier bending the "tuning fork"

Yeah they're military so they're okay. It's the robots who have the unlicensed nuclear accelerators that I worry about.
